Guilin and the Li River

 

Anyone who has perused classical Chinese art will recognize the landscape, with its stark jutting mountains like pillars in the mist. This is the mystical karst landscape of China’s southern Guanxi province, where the winding Li River lets travellers float from the city of Guilin to the rustic villages around Yangshuo.
