Okinawa

Far out on the East China Sea lies the archipelago of Okinawa prefecture. Often known as “Japan’s Hawaii”, this subtropical group of some 150 islands stretches from Taiwan to the Japanese mainland. The region played a significant strategic role in World War II, but now its wide beaches and balmy climes make it a playground for holidayers.
